Christmas Yoga Class with Angela Friday 27th December 9-10.30am
Take a break from the festivities this Christmas with a special yoga class on Friday 27th December 9-10.30am.
JoinAngela for a 90-minute Hatha Yoga class, we will move our bodies and stimulate our digestion with a well thought out practice including asana, relaxation, pranayama and meditation and the usual Christmas gift of course :-)
This year Angela is inviting participants to this class to join her in a mini fast, we will stop eating and drinking (except for water) at 8pm the day before (Thursday 26th) and will break our fast together after class (Friday 27th) with a homemade yoga cookie! or some fruit.
The fast is completely optional, it’s no problem to join the class and NOT FAST.
A yoga practice first thing in the morning, especially after a good night’s sleep, comes with all sorts of physical benefits. Having spent the night repairing tissues and eliminating toxins, the body is rejuvenated and primed for action. Moving into a Yoga practice with an empty stomach allows the body and the mind to devote all its energy towards the practice.
According to Ayurveda, the body is programmed to direct its energy toward cleansing and assimilation in the hours just before midnight, when Agni (digestive fire) is weakest. To support this process, ayurvedic physicians recommend refraining from late-night snacks and going to bed around 10 p.m. By fasting between dinner and breakfast you free your body from the burdens of meal-related digestion so it can conduct mental, emotional, and cellular cleansing in a more concentrated way.
This class is suitable for all, fasting is optional.
